| Alpha Dog Training is based in Fife, Scotland. We have been in business since 1998, when our Instructor Debbie Blyth qualified with the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers.
CLASSES
Our dog training classes incorporate the Kennel Club’s “Good Citizen Dog Scheme” at the Bronze, Silver & Gold levels. They’re good fun, non-competitive and a great way for you and your dog to learn & make new friends.
Classes are kept small, so that we can take the time to get to know individual owners and their dogs. All dog training is motivational and reward-based (either by praise, food or your dog’s favourite toy – whichever works best), and we always have extra “supplies” on hand in case owners forget to bring something.
Our classes are progressive (i.e. they get more difficult as the weeks go on), and are in blocks of 6 weeks, costing £45. They last for an hour a week. We have 3 classes on Saturdays in Dunfermline (10am, 11.15am, and 12.30pm), one in Culross on Fridays at 7pm and - depending on demand - one in Kinross on Saturdays at 7.30pm.
Please contact us for more details on the classes, or to reserve a space on the next one. You'll also see details of vacancies for each level of training on the "contact us" page - it is updated daily. I answer all emails within 24 hours, so if you haven't received a reply after that time please check your Spam folder first, and then give me a ring if there's still no trace of a reply.
ONE-TO-ONE TRAINING
For owners who have a specific problem with their dog, or who simply can’t (or don’t want to) come to a class, we can also offer one-to-one dog training in your own home if you live within our "catchment area". As we're really training you to train your own dog, only one session is required, and this lasts between 2 and 2.5 hours. Please contact us for more information, giving your location at the same time so I can tell you straight away if you're within my area or not. I answer all emails within 24 hours, so if you haven't received a reply after that time please check your Spam folder first, and then give me a ring if there's still no trace of a reply.
DOG WALKING
Our dog walking service is, we think, unique, in that we don't take out a group of dogs and let them run around together, we walk dogs individually and do some training at the same time. This means that we can work on things like heelwork, stopping your dog lunging at passing cars, jumping up on people etc, so when you come home at night after a hard day at work, your dog will be happier AND better behaved! It is also absolutely perfect for elderly, frail or timid dogs who would be overwhelmed in a large group. Costs can vary slightly due to travelling time but the average is £12 per hour or £7 per half hour. Additional dog(s) from the same household are half price. If you'd like more information or to make a booking, just contact us by email or phone. UPDATE RE DOG WALKING - THIS SERVICE HAS PROVED SO POPULAR THAT, UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE CURRENTLY FULL.
IF YOU NEED A DOG WALKER IN THE KIRKCALDY AREA, PLEASE CALL SUSAN ON 07543 596945 - SHE ALSO WALKS DOGS INDIVIDUALLY AND IS VERY HELPFUL.
THEY DID IT!!!!
I'm so proud of my Culross class, who had their exam on Friday 9 July, and my Dunfermline class, who had theirs on 17 July.
Both classes were the Bronze level - a big well done to the following new "graduates"!:
From Culross, 9 July:
Ruby & Twiglet Hyams (Border Collies), Lollie Telfer (Bichon Frise), Archie Campbell (Westie), Hollie Walls (Yorkie), Jack Roberts (Rough Collie) and Molly Beattie (Cocker).
And from Dunfermline, 17 July:
Taylor Cuthbert (GSD), Jasper Murray (Cocker Spaniel), Jake Piggott (Jack Russell), Jack Devlin (Parson Jack Russell), Jasmine Newman (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), Oscar Fernie (Border Terrier), Evie Martin (Border Terrier), Sam Gilchrist (Labrador) and Bear Small (GSD).
Well done again everyone - the transformation from the wild wee pups they were on week 1 to the much steadier and calmer ones on week 6 was brilliant to see.
